Following his departure from the Indian Imperial Police Orwell decided not to return to Burma, In 1928 be take several actions to better himself as a writer. His passion for this began as a young boy and Feeling guilty with the barrier to be able to talk to the Burmese people, Orwell took drastic steps to immerse himself into the poorer fraction of Europe. This experience inspired his first book Down and Out in Paris and London (1933)
