The Clergy Daughters' School in Cowan Bridge, Lancashire is significant to | Jane Eyre (2011) | because it's the school the Bronte sisters went to in their youth that was what based Lowood was based off of in the film. Two of the sisters, Maria and Elizabeth, died at the school from tuberculosis and cruelty/neglect from teachers. I found this information from English Lake Tours which is a walking tour blog for mainly locations of English literature such as Harry Potter and other Bronte sisters work like Wuthering Heights. This source is an example of collective authorship, consumer culture, and gatekeeping because the blogs are written by the family, they are selling tours to people, and nobody else except the family is allowed to add to the website. Mapping this location on COVE adds a grassroots layer to a story usually told top-down by changing it from a fictional place to a place based off of history and factual suffering, it adds a layer of severity.
