Hathersage Village, Derbyshire, is significant to Jane Eyre (2011) because it was the primary real-life inspiration for the village of Morton. Charlotte Brontë spent three weeks in the village, staying at the Hathersage Vicarage with her school friend and her brother, who inspired the character St. John in the film. I found this information from a small website called annebronte.org. This source is an example of singular authorship. It was created by Nick Holland, and on the website you can sign up for his Anne Bronte blog that he runs. You are also able to contact the author and support the website through donations. This is an example of how passionate smaller fan bases can get and how they support one another. Mapping this location on COVE adds a grassroots layer to a story usually told top-down. This is important to Jane Eyre (2011) because it shows what Cary Joji Fukunaga wanted to focus on in the film with the beautiful cinematography to try and capture the images into real life, originally told in Bronte's novel.
