Haworth Parsonage, in West Yorkshire is significant to Jane Eyre (2011) because Charlotte Brontë, creator of Jane Eyre was born there in the early 1800s. Imagination ran strong in the Brontë family, when Charlotte was young her sisters and her would invent imaginary worlds and write stories; later in life they all became succesful authors. Back in the 1800s, women were not encouraged to become authors, so Charlotte and her sisters wrote under alternate names so their writing would be judged by skill and talent rather than gender. Which led us to have great stories like, Jane Eyre, or Wuthering Heights. Brontë's home is now a Museum fans can tour to learn about the familys stories and accomplishments. I found this information from a Museum Website: Bronte Parsonage Museum. This is source is an example of consumer culture because musuems are more looking to mass market instead of a traditonal value setting. Most all museums will have you exit through a gift shop to market off and replicate products instead of viewers actually enjoy the setting. Mapping this location on COVE lets students learn more about not only Charlotte but the Brontës family, as well as gives them a location to visit!
