The famously beautiful location of Moorseats, Hathersage is significant to the Jane Eyre 2011 film because it is the primary inspiration for the Moor House depicted in the fictional novel and movie adaption of Jane Eyre. Charlotte Brontë, writer of Jane Eyre, visited this place in person, however, filming was held at alternative locations in England. The real-life owner, Thomas Eyre, inspired the Eyre last name used in the fictional novel as well. I found this information from a collective, archival website of academic researchers of Jane Eyre. This source is an example of collective authorship with low barriers to entry because, as long as a person has an academic email, they are able to add their own information to the website along with the readily accessible archives of other film and novel-related media information. This leaves room for error as some authors may have more accurate research than others. Mapping this location on COVE adds a grassroots layer to the Jane Eyre story because it provides one with information about the origins of how Charlotte Brontë came up with the Eyre name, and how she developed and conceptualized the Moor House in her novel.
