Nature's Nude

Type: Gallery Image | Not Vetted

Pierra-Auguste Renoir's 1910 "Renoir's Nude"

Display Explanation- The way that I will set these up is having people zigzagging through the room. I will have a little bridge with old rusty ropes as railings, with water flowing underneath them. I will also have an outdoor/nature themed installation. I will put up a tree, flowers, and have the sound “Nature Sounds of a Forest River for Relaxing-Natural Soothing Sound of a Waterfall & Bird Sounds” by Johnnie Lawson playing in the background. The water will create some of the light while people walk through but the catch is, when the people walk by the images they will light up. I will have the first picture right at the beginning hanging off the tree. This will be the biggest picture to create a suspense of what is coming next. The second one hanging on the ceiling, this image will be slightly smaller than the first because it is already colorful. The third picture hanging on the door as they start to walk out of the room. This will be taking up the whole door and will have the most light shining on it. The light will censor the people walking past the image and light up as soon as they step near it. This will keep their attention on one picture at a time.

Installation Note- These three pictures were taken between the time span of 1884-1910. The first picture is a woman who is sitting by herself in nature nude, the second picture is an oil painting of many different women in nature nude but with this picture these women seem to be enjoying themselves, and the third picture is the three women bathing in nature nude. The comparison you will see throughout these images is the fact that they are all a little larger and they are in nature naked. The contrast between these three images are the fact that the first one shows a woman who seems upset and lonely where the other two show happiness. These three images show us that it was normal for women to be nude in nature whether it be her thinking, them enjoying themselves, or them bathing. This was a very interesting time period where the women were expected to be nude and enjoy themselves. What to take from this is that no matter the size of the woman or women it was normal to be nude outside.
