Ada Nield Chew was born at White Hall Farm, Talke o" the Hill in North Staffordshire in England. She lived here for the first 11 years of her life until her family moved to Worcestershire. During the 18th century pottery was renowned and in the beginning of the 19th century there was an increase in railroads and canals that improvised the country. By the 20th century coal mining was a growing industry.
