The photo above is a painting of Ullswater from 1819. Looking at the bay and the mountains that are surrounding this area, I immediately feel calm and at peace. I can see why both William and Dorthy Wordsworth found inspiration from this place. While some of my other mapping locations were demolished or are no longer standing, Ullswater is public land which means that people today can stand in the same place that the Wordsworths once did. I think there is something deeply meaningful that after two hundred years people can still visit a place that prioritizes maintaining the beauty and health of nature in order to offer an escape or creativity from this place.
