White Edge Lodge, Longshaw Estate, in Derbyshire, England is significant to Jane Eyre (2011) because it was filmed as the Moor House. This location is home to some of the most ominous, yet telling, scenes in Jane Eyre. This is where Jane has run off to following her fallout with Rochester. During our first scene at the White Edge Lodge, we are uncertain of the cause for Jane's anguish. The house sets the scene for the dark and mysterious mood with the fireplace lighting while Jane recovers from her starvation and weak state. Eventually the house serves as a refuge for Jane and someplace she can find comfort and call home. Until she evidently chooses to run back to Rochester. This setting tells a lot about the in-between of Jane's story and her attempt toward escapism. I found the information about the plot of land from a booking site where you can choose to stay at said location. This source is an example of platforms as gatekeepers because this kind of site is selling the house to customers and therefore, they will adjust the website to make it appealing to viewers. Mapping this location on COVE makes visible a place a "gatekeeper" platform might otherwise bury. This is significant because some people may not be exposed to the beauty and history of this location unless they are in the market to rent the space.
