University of Oxford, more specifically Pembroke College, marks a change in my life because it was the first time I traveled outside of the country without my family. I realized that traveling and learning didn't have to be static (in a university) but that it could be full of life created by experiences and meeting new people. If someone were researching this place they would find, through the University's Our History tab on their website, that it is one of the oldest universities in the English-speaking world. Pembroke College shows a change in my independence. I have always been an independent person but during my study abroad I had to do things on my own for the first time and in another country. I took public transportation that was different from any I had truly experienced before, I interacted with likeminded individuals from all over the United States, and more importantly, I decided that traveling for education was my calling and to truly be educated, I need to understand others, and I can do that by seeing the world. Mapping this place reveals how a real place marked a real change in my life.
