Portsmouth | Place

A city attached to a Royal Navy post that got its start in the twelfth century. It’s an area that is portrayed in Mansfield Park as a poor place, flowing with people, but not with people who are entirely wealthy. Brighton | Place

Brighton is a seaside town on the south coast of England. It developed as a seaside resort in the late eighteenth century due to the patronage of the Prince Regent, the later George IV, who constructed his Royal Pavilion in the town. Sudbury Hall | Place

Sudbury Hall is 45 miles south of Lyme park.

Both properties are owned by the National Trust, which is great news if you’re a member as you’ll be able to visit both places for free and on the same day. Tickets can be bought on the door for non-members.

Lyme Park, Cheshire | Place

Lyme Park is a magnificent Edwardian manor in Cheshire and served as all of the exterior shots of Mr Darcy’s Pemberley estate within the 1995 TV adaptation. Note that Sudbury Hall in Derbyshire was used for the interior shots.
