The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam; Illustrated by Willy Pogany (1909) - Meganne Patterson | Gallery Exhibit

The Rubaiyat as a poem is layered, intense, and occasionally decieving in regards to its meaning. Without knowledge of several different aspects of the particular edition's history, illustrator, and date of publication, we can build a much broader sense of what the edition means in its location in history and our hearts.

Orientialism, Illustrations, and Gift Books in the Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám: History’s Most Luxurious and Popular Poetry Book | Gallery Exhibit

This exhibit examines the 1916 edition of Edward FitzGerald’s translation of the Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám published by Dodge Publishing Company. The edition also features illustrations done by artist and photographer, Adelaide Hanscom Leeson.
