Dean Street is a street in Soho, Central London, connecting Oxford Street and Shaftesbury Avenue. It was home to several historically important figures and events. The illustrator and caricaturist George Cruikshank lived on the street, and it was home to Fanny Kelly’s Royalty Theatre, where Charles Dickens participated in amateur plays. The Royal Ear Hospital was located at No. 10 Dean Street from 1820 to 1876 and at No. 42-43 from 1904 to 1920. In the Second World War, the French House pub was the unofficial headquarters of the French Resistance in London.
