Women of 19th Century
During Queen Victoria's reign in the 19th Century, women were still seen as less than men, much like the rest of the world at the time. The main role of the woman during this time was to be at home to take care of the house, and tend to the husband's needs. This is seen as a theme in Middlemarch particularly, as one of the main themes of the book is the significance of marriage in the women's lives.
4.5 Blog Reflection
As I have been reading a Bleak House, I have found myself taking more notes as I am reading to refer back to what is going on in each chapter. This process has made me spend more time looking into what is going on in the novel and with Charles Dickens writing. Some difficulties that I have encountered is finding specific information that talks about education during this time. Throughout the entire novel, it has been fascinating reading about the different lifestyles in life choices that the characters choose to make.
