Alaverdi

Alaverdi is a town in the Lori Province in northeastern Armenia. The region of Lori became part of the Russian Empire due to the Treaty of Gulistan in 1813.

Mashhad

Mashhad (also spelled Mashad or Meshad), in a city in Iran, and the capital of Razavi Khorasan Province in the northeast. It is named after the shrine of Imam Reza, who was buried in a village in Khorasan which was later named Mashhad.

Balkh

Balkh is a town in the Balkh Province of Afghanistan. Historically, it was an ancient center of Buddhism, Islam, and Zoroastrianism. It is now mostly made up of ruins.
