In the later chapters of Jane Eyre, St. John returns to Cambridge to say goodbye to his friends before leaving on his mission trip to India. Cambridge is mentioned three times when referring to John–reiterating Bronte’s emphasis on the importance of education and her respect for education in general.
In the final chapters of Jane Eyre, Jane arrives at a new, but not unfamiliar, location in her quest to reunite with Rochester. While this location was referred to prior to the ending, this annotation aims to elucidate the evolution of the place's significance with the newfound insight that the ending allows us.
