Hobart Town
Hobart is the capital and most populous city of Tasmania. It was founded in 1804 as a British penal colony called Hobart Town.

Statement of a Returned Convict. (Volume 3): "I was sentenced to 14 years’ transportation. I was ten weeks in the Bellerophon hulk at Sheerness, and was then taken to Hobart Town, Van Dieman’s Land, in the Sir Godfrey Webster. At Hobart Town sixty of us were picked out to go to Launceston. There (at Launceston) we lay for four days in an old church, guarded by constables; and then the settlers came there from all parts, and picked their men out."
