Mary Borden was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 15th, 1886. She wrote "The song of the Mud," she wrote in 1917. She was a nurse during World War I, which is also where she got most of her inspiration from. She gives her point of view and her experiences like death and her role during this period. Mary had a significant impact on both world wars because she was the director for the French field hospitals. I loved learning about Mary and found her poem remarkably interesting that is why I chose her as a woman from the 20th to the 21st century.
