Tierra del Fuego

Spanish for “Land of Fire,” Tierra del Fuego is an archipelago located at the southernmost part of the South American mainland. It is divided between Argentina and Chile and comprises several islands, Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego (that main island), Cape Horn, and Diego Ramírez Islands.

Patagonia

Patagonia is a region located at the southern end of South America and is comprised of deserts, pampas, and grasslands. The region is shared by present-day Argentina and Chile. Though it is sparsely populated today, researchers trace human habitation back to at least the tenth millennium BCE.

Manchester

Manchester is a city and metropolitan borough in Greater Manchester, England. During the nineteenth century, Manchester experienced rapid industrialization and growth, particularly because of textile manufacturing. The Manchester Ship Canal opened in 1894, creating the Port of Manchester and linking the city to the sea.

Campsie Glen

Campsie Glen, located in East Dunbartonshire in Scotland, is an important site for geological study. It served as the first field trip for the Geological Society of Glasgow and today has been dubbed a regionally important geological and geomorphological site (RIGS).
