Battersea

Battersea is a district in southwest London. From the late eighteenth century, Battersea was established as an industrial area that was radically altered by the building of railways, which resulted in a significant population increase.

Newport

Newport is a cathedral city in southeast Wales. It has been a port since medieval times, and until the rise of Cardiff from the 1850s, Newport was the largest coal-exporting port in Wales.

Ghazni

The capital of the Ghazni Province in Afghanistan, Ghazni is an ancient city which has withstood numerous military invasions.

Kandahar

Also known as Qandahar, historically Candahar, the city is the second largest in Afghanistan. It is the capital of the Kandahar Province, and it is one of the most culturally significant cities of the Pashtuns.

The Bolan Pass

This mountain pass is located in western Pakistan and has been used as a gateway to and from South Asia. The pass, which connects Jacobabad and Sibi with Quetta, was important to the history of the British campaigns in Afghanistan.

Missolonghi, Greece

Located in Western Greece, the town is known as the site of a siege during the Greek War for Independence (1821–1832), and as the site where the poet Lord Byron died. The town features museums of art and history and is home to the Missolonghi Byron Society.
