Blackburn, England

Blackburn, England is an industrial town in Lancashire. Much of its economy for several centuries has been textile production and manufacturing. But, the textile industry started to decline in the early 20th century, and left many people in the area without work or finances.

Huddersfield, England (Voyage)

Hudderfield, England is a market town and one of the largest cities is West Yorkshire, England. The rivers Holme, Colne, and Calder flow through the town. The rivers around the town provided soft water required for textile treatment in large weaving sheds, this made it a prominent mill town with an economic boom in the early part of the Victorian era Industrial Revolution.

Spanish Town, Jamaica

Spanish Town is a small city located in southeast Jamacia. This small city is known for its historical buildings, and one of the most famous is St. Catherine's Cathedral. This small city was once busy and full of life, but now it is known for producing Ligyanea Plain. Spanish Town is first mentioned in an excerpt from "Wide Sagrasso Sea" when the narrator says, " When I asked her why so few people came to see us, she told me that the road from Spanish Town to Coulibri Estate where we lived was very bad".

Southport, England

Southport is a town located on the water just outside of Liverpool. It is a popular seaside resort and the town hosts several events throughout the year. The town is famous for its golfing traditions and flower shows. 

The town was founded in 1792 when a man built a bathhouse on the beach, and later, a hotel. By the early 1800s, a settlement had formed around the hotel.

Glasgow, Scotland

Glasgow is the most populous city in Scotland and the 4th most populous in the United Kingdom. Known for its major cultural institutions like the Burrell Collection, the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra among others. European Capital of Culture in 1990.
