Exeter (10)
Richard arrives in Exeter with likely his greatest and largest group thus far. He hopes it will be an easy victory and a turning point for him, but he ends of being met with resistance and is ultimately blocked.
"He arrived before Exeter at the head of seven thousand men. All the discontented in Cornwall and Devonshire joined him" (384).
White Sand Bay (9)
With the help of Monina, Richard moves his force to White Sand Bay on the western side of England. Richard is relying on assistance in order to establish his credibility and get enough men to fight.
"Monina, among the wild rude Cornish rebels, exerted herself, to inspire zeal for his cause, and to increase the number of his partisans, winning them by her thrilling eloquence, ruling them by her beauty and ethusiasm" (362).
