Emily's Travels Pt. 3

In the same year Emily visited her cousin in Philadelphia, Dickinson and her family traveled to Washington D.C. Dickinson’s father was a Yale graduate and Congressman. Though Dickinson did not travel often, she was very passionate about politics and current events and thoroughly enjoyed this visit.

Emily's Travels

One of the final times Dickinson traveled out of the family estate, she spent April to November of 1864 in Cambridge, MA receiving treatment for a debilitating eye condition by the area’s opthamologist, Dr. Henry Willard Williams.
