Motihari, Bengal is now known as Motihari India. This was the birthplace of Orwell, however, he moved away when he was only one year old. While he moved away with his older sister and mother, Orwell always had ties to Motihari, as his father remained there overseeing the export of Opium to Asia.
In this map, I will highlight some of the most influential places in the life of British author George Orwell.
Mitchelstown, Ireland hosts the Mitchelstown castle, which was the home of the Earl of Kingston. It is situated in County Cork, which is now the Republic of Ireland. Mary spent a year in Mitchelstown after being employed as a governess for the Earl's children. She did not get along very well with their mother but the children say that she left a lasting impression, despite only spending a year with them.

Paris, France has been the home to not only some great tourist spots but some extreme scenes of war. Paris brings to mind the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre museum but while Wollstonecraft was there, from her arrival in December 1792 to her departure in April 1795, the French Revolution call this city it's home. Mary met Gilbert Imlay, the father of her first child, Fanny, there in Paris. She wrote A Historical and Moral View of the French Revolution, published in 1794, about the experience of the everyday people there during the revolution.
