Ypres, Belgium

Ypres is a town in Belgium that became one of the most important battle sites of World War I. Because of the fact that it's location is near the Western Front, several major battles were faught there between the Allied and Gernam forces, including the Second Battle of Ypres in 1915. It was this battle that poison gas was first used in war. The continuous fighting that happened here destroyed the majority of the town and caused numerous casualties. Ypres is important to World War I becasue kof the fact that it held some of the deadliest and most brutal fighting of the war.

Compiegne Forest

The Compiegne Forest is a large forest in northern France. This forest has been used as a hunting ground for centuries by French kings.  The forest is most famous because of its involvement with World War I, the location of the Armistice on 11 November 1918 was signed. This Armistice signing is the agreement that ended the fighting between the Central Forces and the Allies, which makes the forest the "end location" of the war.
