Rodrigues Island is a small volcanic island in the Indian Ocean, east of Mauritius, of which it is a territory. In 1691, French Huguenots landed on the island, intending to set up a farming colony.
Jakarta, formerly Batavia, is the capital city of Indonesia. Batavia was established in 1619 as the capital of the Dutch East Indies and as the center of the Dutch East India Company’s trading network in Asia.
