Chawton Cottage

Clinker Cottage, Chawton, Hampshire

After the passing of Jane Austen's father, the Austen sisters along with their mother and another female friend— moved into a cottage owned by their borther, Henry. For eight years, Austen would live and write in this house. All six of Austen's novels were revised and published during her time in this house. 

 

Steventon, Hampshire

Sign for Steventon, Birthplace of Jane AustenJane Austen was born in Steventon, Hampshire, in 1775 and lived here until the family moved to Bath in 1801. Her juvenilia, including "Love and Freindship," "The History of England," "Catharine" and other pieces were written here.
