The Movement of Women

A protest is a statement or action expressing one's disapproval of or objection toward something and women have been doing it throughout history. The 4B movement was first introduced in South Korea in 2019. The 4B movement is a social movement in which women in South Korea stay single to challenge the domestication of women. The 4 B’s represent different aspects of a woman’s life that demand change. As a result of this movement, South Korea has the lowest fertility rate at 0.7 as of 2023.

Exploitation of Employees: Forced Labor Throughout History

Exploitative labor comes in many forms, and remains an important contemporary issue through companies such as Shein. Forced labor, an industry term for exploiting workers, is used and defined by the Blue Campaign, a Department of Homeland Security website, as “when individuals are compelled against their will to provide work or service through the use of force, fraud, or coercion” (“What is Forced Labor?”). Forced labor is a key feature writer Timo Kollbrunner outlined when exploring the factories in China where Shein’s products are made.
