Ruby Bridges was born during the unfortunate time in which people continued to avidly believe in the concept of “Separate but equal”.  Even though the Supreme Court already came to a “desegregating schools” consensus during Brown v. Board of Education, there were still many people who were hesitant or not in support of this. When Ruby was around the age of 6, she was asked to take a test that would determine if she could attend a white school in New Orleans. These tests were made to be highly difficult to filter out the African Americans from white schools.

Jane Elliott (April 1968)

After the world faced the great tragedy of losing Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., many people questioned the high leverage the social justice movement once had. As America lost one of its greatest spokes people, who fought day and night against racism, it seemed as though people could only continue to live on through his legacy in order to maintain his efforts. On April 5, 1968, the day after MLK was shot and killed, a women by the name of Jane Elliot decided she would partake in maintaining the voice of Martin Luther King Jr.

San Francisco

San Francisco is an important place in relation to the Internment Camps as it's the place the gallery picture resides. It's also one of the more prominent places Japanese Americans were forced to relocate from. California has always been a very progressive state and to see them executing the Executive Order passed by Roosevelt goes to show the bipartisan support that such a discriminatory law had.

Birmingham Church, Alabama

On September 15th, 1963 at 10:24am, a terrorist attack occurred at the Birmingham Church located in Birmingham Alabama which targeted the black members of the community that attended the church. The nineteen sticks of dynamite bomb detonated in the early morning at in the basement of the church where there were four young girls helping to prepare for the Sunday service. Addie Mae Collins, 14 years old. Cynthia Wesley, 14 years old. Denise McNair, 11 years old. Carole Robertson, 14 years old. Several more were injured and maimed.

Washington, DC

Connecting to the timeline about "The Feminine Mystique", this fueled a resurgence of the feminist movement where middle-class women all across America began to advocate for women's political and social equality. In 1963 President John F. Kennedy signed the Equal Pay Act of 1963 in Washington DC where women could no longer be paid less compared to men for doing the same job.
