Annan is a Royal Burgh in Scotland with a population of roughly 10,000 people. During the times that the Romans were invading Scotland, the Bruce family, who were the Lords of Annandale, played an active role in fighting for Scottish independence. This is obviously from where Annan gets its name.

Innisfree is a small unhabitated irish island on Lough Gill. This location has always been a beautiful representation of Ireland. WIld and gorgeous, it was an inspirational place for William Butler Yeats. His poem "The Lake Isle of Innisfree" perfectly encapsualtes its beauty. In the poem, the speaker says, 

Solway Firth is the narrow inlet of the sea that forms part of the border between England and Scotland between Cumbria and Dumfries. It is characteriszed by lowland hills and small mountains and it is mainly a rural area with small villages. 

It is mentioned in Recollections in the very beginning. "There is a pleasant view from the churchyard over Solway Firth to the Cumberland mountains. Dined at Annan. On our left as we travelled along appeared the Solway Firth and the mountains beyond, but the near country dreary. "

South Carolina is one of the original thirteen colonies founded by the British in the United States. It was founded as a province in 1629 by Charles I. At the time it took up modern day Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, but grew smaller overtime. It eventually became the eigth state to enter the Union between the states underneath the US consitution. It split from the US during the civil war and is famous for being the first state to secede from the US, making it the proctor for the whole war in some people's minds.

Brighton, England, is a coastal town located sixty miles south of London and East of Portsmouth. In 1810 it was given its official name and written into history. For two centuries before the events in Mansfield Park, Brighton experienced extreme storms that lowered the population because of how much had been destroyed. By 1750 wealthy people, including the Prince of Wales, came to bathe in the seawater because it was believed it aided in curing illnesses.
