For Jane Austen's literature, Bath, located in Somerset, England is of special importance. It is featured heavily in both Northanger Abbey as well as Persuasion, but is mentioned as a location full of attractions and diversions in her other novels as well. The connection for Austen with Bath has two major timelines. During her various visits in the 1700s, and then in particular in May 1801 when her parents made the decision to retire there. Marked here is the home they ended up moving to after staying with her aunt and uncle for a short time.
Swizterland is where Fanny went on her honey-moon as stated in the text, "As for the bride, she was subdued and tearful, as an orthodox bride should be; and invited all her sisters in turn to come and stay with her at Notting Hill directly the honeymoon in Switzerland should be over." (Ch.16).
Here at Goodrich Castle is where Wordsmith said that he found inspiration for his poem, "We Are Seven" which he wrote in 1798 five years after he had a conversation with the girl in this poem.
This is where Emily's aunt, Madame Cheron, resides, and it is where Emily travels to live after the death of her father.
This is the part of France where La Vallee is located, where the novel begins and where Emily has been raised in her youth.
Fun fact: The old city (before the new one was constructed on top of it) used to be called the "Sleeping Beauty" because pollution had turned the city's walls black (https://www.udrive.com.au/blog/fun-facts-about-french-city-bordeaux/).

Dear all,
May I enlist your support for a new way of running the tutorial? After yesterday’s experience, I felt strongly that a clear focus and a common direction were needed for a productive, truly interactive tutorial.
