Hasnapur, India - Jasmine by Bharati Mukherjee
Jasmine, the novel's protagonist, is born in Hasnapur, India. She is the fifth daughter of her family to be born, which means that she will not have any dowry money for her future marriage. Also, Jasmine's discussion of her life in India mainly focuses on the gender discrimination she experiences there, which proves to be a major theme for the entire novel.

In the third novel in this series, we are brought back to California, this time in San Francisco. There are not as many threats to June and Day as there were in the first two novels. However, this is the epicenter of the plague that is attacking their country. The two go back to California in order to see if they are able to help put a stop to this deadly disease causing so much havoc.
Legend: Las Vegas
The second novel in this series picks up right where the first one leaves off. The two main characters, June and Day, are trying to escape from the horrors in Los Angeles. The rebel group that had helped the two out in the last novel, the Patriots, they have a base in Las Vegas. The two decided that this would be the safest bet for them, as they had alligned themselves with the Patriots. The duration of the novel takes place in Las Vegas as well.

As the novel comes to a close, we learn that the Patriots, a rebel group, brought June and Day here so that they would be safe from harm's way. After the actions that the two had taken in this novel, they would need the shelter and safety from being away from the main city, for now they are both wanted.

The main setting for the novel Legend. The majority of the novel takes place here. Legend is a dystopia novel, but set in the United States. There are several corrupt things going on with the government, such as the leader and the plague that is spreading throughout the country. June, one of our two main characters, is a military prodigy, living on the high class side of the city. Day, our second main character, is the most wanted criminal within Los Angeles. Despite this, the two end up working together and realizing how corrupt their government truly is.
Asahikawa, Japan
Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami
Asahikawa, Japan is the last location that is mentioned in the novel. Reiko, Naoko's old roommate, tells Watanabe that she is going to be moving to Asahikawa. This location is meant to symbolize new begins and a fresh start. 
Kyoto, Japan
Norwegian Wood, Haruki Murakami
Kyoto, Japan is the location where Naoko's "treatment center" was located. Watanabe went to visit Naoko at this location, when she was at one of her lowest points during the novel. In Kyoto we learn how Naoko is trying to survive and get through some tramatic times.
